OXE Marine AB Launches Water Jet Propulsion
OXE Marine AB launches water jet propulsion for select models in its line-up – combining the industry-leading OXE outboard diesel performance with state-of-the-art water jet propulsion.
Never has such an attractive package been presented, solving several key opportunities compared to traditional waterjet drive train – delivering:
-
-
- Reduced weight compared to an inboard installation
- Significant increase in space inside the vessel
- Engine rated hp directly to jet unit – no gearbox reduction loss resulting in much higher thrust compared to the traditional drive train
- Jet turbine and bucket unit can be trimmed out of water when not in use, minimizing wear and tear
- C.O.G transfer aft for a better balance of the vessel
- Easy access to remove debris
- Easy engine access and serviceability are much improved compared to the traditional layout.

Oxe Marine's Water Jet Engine Nominated for Innovation of the Year at the Miami International Boat Show
ÄNGELHOLM, Sweden, OXE Marines AB (publ) diesel-powered outboards with water jet propulsion, developed together with JET-TECH, were nominated as one of the year’s innovations at the recently concluded International Boat Show in Miami. The engine is one of the world’s most powerful outboards with water jet propulsion and has been made possible due to OXE’s proprietary power transmission system that can handle very high torques.
By equipping an OXE300 diesel-powered outboard with waterjet technology, OXE Marine, together with JET-TECH, has created a configuration that combines OXE Marine’s powerful and fuel-efficient outboard with the advantages of waterjet propulsion. The configuration is the world’s first and most powerful outboard with water jet propulsion and axial flow.
“The nomination is great recognition for our technology and innovation capabilities. No one has succeeded in combining a fuel-efficient and powerful diesel outboard like the OXE300 with water jet propulsion in the same successful way,” states Anders Berg, CEO of OXE Marine AB.
Waterjet propulsion lacks the traditional propeller and propels the boat forward by creating a powerful jetstream of water. The lack of a traditional propeller allows a flatter hull, is easier to maneuver in shallow water, and is a kinder choice for the marine environment as it eliminates the need for sharp propellers. Thanks to OXE Marine’s unique belt transmission system, all torque generated by the diesel engine is transferred to the water jet drive itself without loss of power.
“The commercial launch of the world’s first and most powerful diesel outboard with waterjet propulsion and the highest efficiency of all waterjet engines represents a game-changer. Others are not able to transfer such high torques to the lower part of the rig, but we do it thanks to our belt drive, which, in combination with a waterjet drive, can handle even higher loads,” says Douglas Natoce, President at OXE Marine AB.

Diesel Outboards, OXE, Jet-Tech Introduce New Waterjet at WorkBoat Show
Jet-Tech Propulsion, an Outdoor Network LLC company, through a partnership with Diesel Outboards LLC, introduced a new ultra-high-performance waterjet designed for an outboard diesel engine at the 2021 International WorkBoat Show.
The partnership is in collaboration with the Swedish outboard engine manufacturer OXE Marine AB (OXE).
Jet-Tech is a single-stage compact high-performance waterjet that combines mixed-flow properties within an axial design build, with a hybrid stator for high torque diesel outboard engines.
The Jet-Tech waterjet performance is equal to or better than propeller versions and is matched 1:1 to the unit horsepower-driven prop outboard, a level of achievement that has never been reached in any waterjet product to date, according to Diesel Outboards’ President Douglas Natoce.
“It was a substantial investment,” he said from the floor of the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans as more than 700 exhibitors prepared their booths for the opening of the show the next day, “but we built the first one and the data told us we had what we were hoping for.”
Natoce said the approach combines the key benefits of high-speed efficiency with cavitation margins at lower speeds and high load conditions that Diesel Outboards, Jet-Tech, and OXE Diesel think are excellent.
The waterjet launch builds on OXE’s transformation of the high-horsepower, high torque diesel outboard market enabled by its OXE Diesel range.
“The Jet-Tech waterjet performance is equal to or better than propeller versions and is matched 1:1 to the unit horsepower-driven prop outboard,” said Natoce. “This level of achievement has never been reached in any waterjet product to date.”
The new Jet-Tech fits every OXE Diesel model manufactured. “By using advanced proven waterjet engineering and design capabilities, augmenting the
innovative OXE Diesel design, we completely redefined outboard motor propulsion and performance,” said Natoce. “The Jet-Tech unit is designed to
grow with our expanding product line as it is a fully scalable product. The patented design will expand into the vertical shaft diesel/gas outboard waterjet applications and inboard waterjets.”
“The Oxe Diesel Outboard was originally designed for commercial and government users and is now expanding into other marine markets. We have seen the offshore center console community wanting greater range, better fuel economy, mega yacht tenders needing SOLAS certification as well as the need for the removal of gasoline bunkering, while the commercial and government users need the safety of diesel, and the commonality of global fuel standardization,” said Magnus Grönborg, OXE Marine AB’s CEO. “They all want and need torque to move the larger and heavier vessels that were traditionally powered by gasoline outboards and inboard engines, but many desire the choice of diesel outboards, and now, combined with Jet-Tech Propulsion LLC’s capabilities, they can also get diesel outboards with [a] waterjet.”
